these links.

okay so jon will be here on thursday! and i thought i would post my link progression... yes i began with i think 43 links... and today i have three! each night before i go to bed i take off another link. it may sound childish and reminiscent of the elementary school days when you would count down till christmas (and yes my roommate continues to make fun of me for it... like i care?) but i do it because it gives me a visual way to countdown. yes i am a very visual person. and a tactile person nonetheless. and getting to take down a link each night sure does it for me. so there. like i need to even explain or justify my actions.... just thought i would share!

now its time to get down to business and be a busy bee so that i can get all my work done for the weekend so when thursday comes its time to play!

another four dollars in change later...

SO. tonight we went down to the east village to allison's friends apartment. they were having a party on their roof top/terrace. it was a great apartment and really cool that these guys had such a sweet apt - but kind of a downer that it was SO packed. but after two really strong frat party type mixed drinks later, we had had our share of fun and moved on to another venue. we said we goodbye to al as she hailed a cab, and we caught the train up to midtown to mccoys. it is the bar that is right above (practically) annie and amy's apt. morgan, megan, amy, kathleen (whom i just met this evening), brad, nathaniel and nathaniels friend brian (who was visiting for the evening) were all there at a table in the back. it was good to see friends in a more roomy space and be able to talk and catch up. so mo and i just got home (i paid for my single ride metro card with 3 quarters and 12 dimes. classy) and i am ready to climb in bed. thought i would just wrap up the days events and proclaim how proud i am of myself for spending so little money, but still going out both friday and saturday night - this is not a frequent occurance for me people.

today is jonathan, my boyfriend's, birthday. YAY. so happy birthday cutie. hope you're having a wonderful time at the beach with your dad. and i hope your luck is better tomorrow and you catch lots of fish! :)

jon is going to be here in five days and i am ecstatic. [[p.s. that is why i am being so cheap with my money this weekend...]] this was a nice weekend, but i cant help but wish it was next weekend already......

your brains backwards.

my title was inspired from a conversation i heard on the train last night between a father and his young son. the father was frustrated that the his son broke his game and he couldn't "figure the damn thing out". i thought it was hilarious. NOT the fact that a father would speak to his young son that way... but the fact that THAT was his choice phrase. anyhow. on to the good stuff.

last night was the best friday night I have ever had in new york city. I spent 4 dollars total on the subway and 2.50 on a piece of pizza. other than that.... didn't spend a dime.

i was extremely lucky to be invited by my roommate to attend a birthday party for a woman who works in the office next to theirs. the birthday celebration was at pier 17 (at the south street seaport) at spiegelworld. we didnt know what to expect accept for the fact that we were maybe seeing a show? it turns out that the birthday girl had bought out that evening's showing of absinthe. mo and i found some seats... and then were completely amazed for the next two hours..

this show was the most incredible show i have ever seen! it was like a circus for adults! ha. the show has been explained as a 'cabaret circus' and it is like cirque de soleil meets rocky horror picture show.... with a vulgar (but hilarious) and sexual spin. the 'hosts' were hilarious, the music was amazing, the stunts and performances were OUT OF THIS WORLD. there are some pictures on the website - but it really can't be defined by those few photos. the show took my breath away, kept me laughing, and left me in awe.

after the show, mo and i decided to check out the scene outside of the performance tent. there was a band playing and people were dancing. and my most favorite part -- an area of about 12-15 HAMMOCK CHAIRS. i fell in love with the place right then in there. mo and i spent the next hour and a half, laying in the hammocks, listening to the music, watching the people dance, and gazing at the beautiful view of the brooklyn bridge.

ah. just what i needed after a very exhausting week. i love it. now mo and i are eating seven layer dip (i had a ridiculous craving for it) and watching bridget jones' diary. lovely. thats all for now.

video ichat is my favorite.

so i have a magazine cover due tomorrow evening. and my completed london olympics logo and ad due in the morning. and what am i doing right now? why exploring the fabulous world of video ichat with two of my best friends, who have recently become owners of macbooks! they both have the white macbook and are in love with it. im still hunkered down with my macbook pro, that though it has some age on it (little over two years) its going pretty strong. despite the fact that i think a speaker blew? is that possible? anyhow. the above photos are from our group chat. and it really made my day. chinae said - look, we dont even have to hang out before going out, we can just have cocktails at home and talk on here. HA. but i do like her idea that we can approve outfits before going out in the evening by signing on. what a great idea :)

okay. now its back to the grind. gotta work this stuff OUT!

jon will be here NEXT thursday. i am excited i can hardly wait. SO i promised myself i would work extra hard so that when he gets here it can be a fun weekend and we can play in the city without me worrying about stuff... hmm... so its back to work!

just another manic monday

i had the greatest time saturday with the girls! we met at susie and allisons apt in murray hill for champagne, brie and berries and hung out, watched tcu get stomped by OU (sadness), marvelled at susies amazing shoe collection {{i am not kidding when i say this girl has the best shoe collection of ANYONE i know. and she is absolutely adorable, so you can't hate her!!}}, and had the best cupcakes from magnolia.

we headed to aspen for our dinner reservation at 9. it was pricey, but wonderful. i got the bison sliders, mo got the trout tacos - we split them and had one each and then shared a side of asparagus. it was the best $9 asaparagus i've ever had. haha. i had their rose sangria which was delicious and perfect.

after dinner we headed to the LES (lower east side) to pianos where we were meeting other friends. the cab ride took forever, or so it seemed. it was mo, tanya, susie and me and we spent the majority of it talking about broadway shows we've seen, and want to see - tanya and sus beat me by double digits. man. then it turned into a singing fest of wicked, phantom of the opera, lion king, then little mermaid... yea the driver was amused. especially as tanya explained to him how she was actually quite sober, she just loves disney songs, 'the classics' she said. haha.

pianos was so crowded. we ended up going to some other place down the street. couldnt tell you the name. but it was much less crowded and we got a table. it was so nice having kirby here that i kept forgetting she would be leaving in only a few hours. so i cozied up by her side and made the most of the rest of her short visit. as the night came to an end, and it was time to say goodbye - the tears came. and they came hard. im sure it was partially alcohol induced... but mostly just that i miss my best friend! and it sucks being so far from eachother. but i will get to see her in san antonio in november... :) so that is a very good thing!

yesterday i dragged myself out of bed to go meet my mom's friend allison, and her daughter stephanie, that were in town. they were going to see 'legally blond' at the palace theatre at 2, so i met them at planet hollywood in times square for lunch before. stephanie is 13 and she was absolutely mesmerized by all the decorations, costumes and movie stuff that was up in the restaurant.

when i got home, i crashed. fell asleep. hard. i woke up at 730pm... whoops. but going back to thursday night and then the long weekend, i know my body really needed it. i woke up, went and got two pieces of pizza for dinner (healthy i know) then began working on this thing for electronic page deign and watched the season premiers of both desperates and brothers&sisters. ah fall and all the new shows! like i need something else to add to my procrastination! i stayed up till 4 working on my project. i just wasnt tired after my long nap.

today i am doing laundry, i went to the grocery store, and im working on design stuff for the week. when i went to put my laundry in the dryer earlier, i came across this great find at the bottom of the stairs! it was by a big trash bag of clothes and stuff. i figured someone was just giving it all up. my laptop fits PERFECTLY in it and has room for other stuff too. and there is a strap that makes it perfecting for toting my stuff. i think its so great and has such personality. whoo me.

happy monday everyone.

it's gettin there... & GO FROGS

today i went down to little italy to meet a girl who i found on craigslist that was selling her desk -its the same desk i have at home (minus the hutch/shelving) and she was selling it for less than half of what it retails for. so i decided i would go.

i trekked through the touristy-ness of chinatown... which was annoying especially since it was raining and everyone was walking at a snails pace! finally got to the apt, paid for the desk, and then we moved it down to the street level. the first cab we hailed said it wouldn't fit. so we didnt know what to do. i remembered that you could unscrew the legs - but it's a special kind of screwdriver that is needed. well it was raining more, and the girl was needing to go back up to her apt bc her movers were coming any minute. so i decided to attempt to loosen the bolts with my hands, and then with the help of a local hot dog vendor - and his brut strength - we got the bolts removed! hailed a new cab. and i was on my way.

so here is a pic of my room... so far. there is a lot that needs to get finished. and the photo quality is bad. i still need shelving. some type of storage stuff for under my bed. a small rug would be nice. very small. i have minimal space here. but im doing what i can with it, and im happy with how its all coming along. :)

going out to eat for my friend susies bday - we are meeting at susie and allisons apt, having drinks/apps before - and hopefully getting to see some of the TCU vs OU game.

GO TCU!!
BEAT OU (again)

[[ this was three years ago - and it is sara, me, bethany and taylor at the OU stadium in norman right after we won!!]]

new shows. no sleep. and friday at last.

last night was the season premiere for both 'the office' and 'grey's anatomy'. i got out of class around 9, came home, began working on projects and watching my shows. grey's was dramatic as usual. should be interesting to see how the season goes. the office is of course hilarious and wonderful and i am really looking forward to another season. whoo. it's kind of funny bc pam has left to move to ny and is studying at pratt - ha which is where i am at school. but that's definitely not the manhattan campus, could be the brooklyn campus MAYBE but probably just a set somewhere. still thought it was kinda cool.

as far as my projects - i was up till 5:45 ish last night working on comps for packaging design and two photoshop layer projects. here is a pic of me and odge videochatting - we are definition of dork. we were working on our sketches, and then would show them to eachother to approve of our progress. now that is teamwork.

the texas one is my favorite one. probably spent way more time on these than i needed to for the homework excercise, but whatever. i got caught up in it. so anyhow. i showered, slept for a little over 2 hours, got up, got ready for class - in my finest mizuno pants, pi kapp chilifest shirt and my new balance - then trekked to pratt in the rain. i don't have an umbrella so that was a problem. well i used to have two but lord knows where the heck those ended up after the move. i ended up wearing my tcu hoodie sweatshirt to shield me from the rain. yea. that was special. so maybe i was all texas-ed out today. whatever. guess it went a long with my photoshop project. how convenient.

[[ pics of me in class... sitting on the floor during critique. i was too exhausted to stand apparently... ha. and maybe i like sitting on the floor. and my prof going over my rough comps. photos compliments of my sweet friend, hyeree]]

so im finally home. ate a sandwich from swich and now im going to lay down. and hopefully nap. sounds perfect. happy weekend people.

**KIRBY COMES TOMORROW** and i am beyond excited to see my beebs!!

don't let the bed bugs bite...

to sum things up - i'm a really deep sleeper - so it's really no surprise that it took me seeing what you are seeing in the following images in order to remember what happened last night.

it was not until i was blowdrying my hair that i noticed these awful markings on my arms - as soon as i saw them, my mind flashed back to last night, and i remembered at one point being extremely itchy. like so uncomfortably itchy, i was besides myself. but then again, me being the deep sleeper than i am, i got my itching in and dove back into my sleep. you can imagine my horror and surprise this morning!! i was freaking out. the one on my right forearm was definitely the worst - it was the most swollen. i rushed to get ready, and set out to pratt to get some opinions from my friends as to what to do.

after grossing out everyone in the lab (im sure) i ended up going across the street to duane reade to see what the pharmacist recommended - she said i needed to get them checked out by a dr asaply bc they could get bigger, hotter, more swollen and could potentially cause me to get sick. AH! so i went back to pratt, reported the news, and set off to st vincents hospital. with my buddy adri. of course. oh. but not without first stopping by and getting a pizza for the walk from the social that i missed....

the triage at the emergency room was RIDICULOUS. adri and i waited, and waited, and waited. played on my ipod. pretended to work on stuff for class. and observed the diversity that encompasses the waiting room in a nyc public hospital. wow. i can't even put into words. one man was so ridiculous and caused such an uproar, that he was escorted out by three security men - he didnt go without a fight! they were brawling on the floor all the way out the door. it was insane. adri left to head to class, and i continued to wait. my name was FINALLY called (like 3 hours later), i went to the nurses station, where they took my vitals, checked me in, then sent me on my way to the 'fast track' waiting room. bah. there i waited another 45 minutes or so before i was placed in a room where the dr and nurse could examine my bites.

after some med rx, more waiting, and then finally completing paperwork, i was discharged, and headed back to pratt for back to back classes - which was extremely difficult today considering the benadryll....

so enough of that horrible spider talk. tonight i got to talk on the phone to one of my oldest and dearest friends, ashley. we met in elementary school and were in girl scouts together! then went to m.s. and on to h.s. together. she is teaching 2nd grade at our old elementary school! so cool. we had some good laughs recalling memories from those good ole days.

now i need to get some work done, bc i jsut took some more benadryll...and that sleepiness should be setting in...any...minute....

ciao people

*** p.s. please don't be fooled by my title - yes, bed bugs are a real thing, and yes they are prevalent in nyc, and yes they are more awful than what i have experienced. i am almost positive it's not b.b's cuz its JUST on my arms... hmm. please cross your fingers and pray for me that its just spider bites and will heal stat!!

B&b

I got my hair cut today at the Bumble&bumble salon uptown this afternoon. aw. I miss the upper east side - and it was fun to make a trip up there. My experience at the salon was so nice and relaxing. We started with the consultation - I told Chris that I want to keep my length, but I am in desperate need of a trim, and wouldn't mind some styling to my hair. We decided on some new layers and to create a better shape with my hair. Then came the shampooing - ah! My most favorite part of the whole treatment! What girl doesn't love shampooing and head massages. divine. Then was the cut and styling. After like half and hour and feedback from Valentino (Chris' instructor) - I got my hair blow dried and perfected. I love the final result! My hair is shorter than I wanted, but definitely feels more healthy and looks a lot better!

So, even though I didn't get as much schoolwork as I would have liked to today, I did get some nice pampering in, which to me was the perfect way to start another long week :)

Kirby, my best friend from TCU is coming to nyc this weekend! Well - she is coming for 12 hours to be exact. She lives in Chicago, and she is on the 'got milk' campaign for her PR firm. She is doing work in Hartford, CT this weekend, and is making a trip into the city for the night! I am so excited to see her! I have a ton of work to get done this week for school (like always) but I am super stoked to have something so wonderful to look forward to. HOORAY. It is also Susie's Bday. We are all going out to dinner and then out in the LES. love it.

so cheers to another week!

these walls are paper thin

i can't take the weird yelling and noises, and banging on the walls any longer!! our neighbors JUST MIGHT be crazy. i honestly have no idea whats going on over there. but last night i was woken up by banging on the wall (that is behind my bed) and it scared the livin daylights out of me!! and it's happening again right now. the shouts seem to be another language - which we just recently discovered was french (more on that in a minute). it sounds as if they are practicing some form of karate where they break cinder blocks and then throw them at the wall and floor once they have accomplished the task! that. or. they are banging eachothers heads on the floor? holy cow. i dont even know what to think. just a moment ago, we heard loud footsteps traveling down their hall, unlock the front door, scream and yell in french - the door slams. someone on the other side of the wall slams something. and then ---- silence. it is so bizarre and i cannot explain it.

it's getting ridiculous. if this continues, and my sleep is continuously interrupted, i might have to summon the courage to say something! ahhhhh.
