west 22nd street and 7th avenue

Today was an absolutely beautiful sunday. Mo and I slept in, got ready for the day, then had lunch at Spice on 8th. I had the lemongrass chicken with tom yum soup - so good.

we decided we wanted to go check out the chelsea flea market - on the corner of 22nd and 7th, we saw the most perfect red loveseat. we looked at each other and immediately made our way over. a sign 'FREE - PLEASE TAKE' was sitting on the couch. we sat it in, and of course it was the most comfortable couch ever. we mutually (but silently) decided it must be ours. mo lifted the corner to check the weight ... too heavy. i lifted the seat cushion to discover the cause of the hefty couch - a perfect twin sized pull out bed. and we i say this couch was perfect, you have to understand that it was perfect for our apartment. perfect color. perfect sleeping space for guests. perfect size for our tiny little nyc living room. etc. at that moment we both sat down and decided we wouldn't leave that corner until we found a way to get it home.

you should have seen the looks we got during the hour and a half that passed by. one couple got in an argument bc the guy wanted to take a picture of me sittin in that couch! the girl walked away, quickly crossing the street - guess she was embarassed by his action. i thought it was funny. at another point, mo and i saw the cutest little dachshund ... and guess who was walking him? Ricky, from last season's project runway.

we finally had a guy offer for us to use his dolly - that just so happened to be chained to the telephone post across the street - for 20 bucks. after seeing how heavy it was, he offered to help us wheel it to our apt (only a block and a half away). we rolled it on down the street, through the intersections, electing not to travel along the sidewalk. after about 30 minutes of grunt work - and maneuvering (think the friends episode where they are moving the couch - and ross is yelling, PIVOT! PIVOT!) - and allowing Mollie from ANTM, Cycle 6, and a boy pass on by us ((maybe she lives on the 5th floor? maybeee she is visiting??))- we finally got it into our apt!!
VICTORY!
We had just enough time to shower and get ready for church at 7 at Origins on W. 22nd & 8th. I loved the service, it was really informal, but the relaying of the message was great and easy to understand and follow. I also got to met a lot of really great people. We all headed to Shake Shack in Madison Square Park for dinner after. I had never been, but I've heard about it's goodness. The line was SO long (which I have also heard). We had about 5 tables put together and we all sat, enjoyed our dinners, and talked and talked. It was cool to get to meet new people and make new friends. On the way back to the apartment, Mo spotted Joe from the current Project Runway season. And yes, he was wearing the same thing that he is in that bio photo. What a day for spotting fashion/design reality tv stars.

I would say all in all, that today was quite a wonderful Sunday. Classes don't begin till Tuesday - so I have ONE more day to enjoy and relax before the chaos begins.

xxoo
